What is a good poem to read to my future husband at our wedding ceremony in one week?

1. Please don't tell me to write my own. I'm not interested in that advice.

2. We do not want to read a bible passage.

3. Nothing sentimental.

4. No song lyrics.

5. Something unexpected, funny, sweet

6. Perhaps something more modern and contemporary instead of a sonnet by Shakespeare of a Romantic poet or the Brownings, etc...What is a good poem to read to my future husband at our wedding ceremony in one week?
Edna St. Vincent Millay was a 20th century poet who wrote a lot of love sonnets using more contemporary language than Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Something of hers might be what you're looking for. You can find lots of her poems online.

Marge Piercy, Sharon Olds, and Kim Addonizio have written numerous love poems, but some of their work might be more erotic than what you have in mind.What is a good poem to read to my future husband at our wedding ceremony in one week?
Wonderful. May you enjoy a great wedding and a long, happy, color-filled life together.

you should look up the book ';The Prophet'; by Kahlil Gibran. It is a collection of ';poems'; divided into subject chapters. The one on love is absolutely incredible. I don't know if you can find it online, but if not you can just go look at it at your local bookstore. One time, I blogged about it, so you can read it here:

Any of shel silverstein stuff will do the trick! I recommend his book ';the end of the sidewalk';
