I am a Canadian citizen living in the US; my husband is American. How can I get dual citizenship for my kids?

I am a Canadian citizen by birth, with permanent resident status in the US since 2002. My husband is an American citizen by birth. Both of my children were born in the US (one in 2004, one in 2007). How do I go about obtaining dual (American/Canadian) citizenship for them?I am a Canadian citizen living in the US; my husband is American. How can I get dual citizenship for my kids?

I believe they already are. By being born in the US, they are automatically US citizens. Since you are Canadian, they also inherit your citizenship. You just need to go to the Canadian consulate to get their passports (just show them their birth certificate and proof of your Canadian citizenship).

That said, I think there is a quirk in the Canadian law, that children born outside Canada must re-confirm their intent to keep Canadian citizen at some point in their adult life or risk losing it.

There is no chance of loosing the US citizenship (unless the kids renounce it).
