I am not happy that I am not a co-owner of the car. The car dealer said it doesn't matter who is the owner because of the common law, but I feel very sad that I do not actually own the car that I drive. What is the disadvantages for me as a main driver of a new car that is in my husband's name only?
I think that if you feel that way, it's not good. I could be wrong, but it seems to me like there could be an element of feminism here, wanting to be independent or in control, somehow. Otherwise, I don't know what difference it should make in a really good marriage.
You might want to check with your insurance company, though. What is the disadvantages for me as a main driver of a new car that is in my husband's name only?
YOUR INSURANCE MAY NOT BE COVERED YOU BETTER GET IT IN BOTH NAMES AND COMMON LAW WELL TAKE IT AND THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW YOUR GOING TO BE THE ONE THATS HIT WITH THE FINES NOT HIM
LIKE I SAY TIS BEST TO GET IT IN BOTH NAMES
OR AT LEAST MR %26amp; MRS
My car is technically not in my name due to insurance reasons and after 5 years I have never had a single issue. I guess if you got a divorce then it might suck but otherwise there is no problem.
Doesn't really matter ..what ever he owns is half yours under the law....
Take it up with your husband, not the salesman.
Do you have any rights in the mariage? Does he care for you at all? If he knew you wanted to own the car, and it made you sad not to own the car he would put our name on the title if he loved you.
it doesn't matter but if it does to you then refinance it in your name only?
