My husband has been evicted about 4-5 years ago. When completing a rental application, should I even include him on the lease? Will they deny me the apartment based on his history? If My Husband Has Been Evicted in the Past But I Have Not, Will We Both Suffer The Consequences?
Decent apartment complexes will run a credit/backround check on not only the lease holder...but occupants as well. It's best to be up front about the past eviction.....having it paid off would help too.If My Husband Has Been Evicted in the Past But I Have Not, Will We Both Suffer The Consequences?
You will have to include him on the lease if he will be living there. If you have had positive rental history in those 4 -5 years and good references from any previous landlords you should be ok. Just check qualifying requirements before you pay your application money to see what that property will require, everybody is different. If you have a good credit score and good rental history because it was so long ago, you should be fine. If any or all of those things are not good, they might look at the package as a whole and decide not to accept you.
I think they only look into the last few years of history. But if you have good history that will help, just put yourself as the primary. I think it just depends on the company and their standards.
